Sockeye salmon, also known as the “red salmon”, are one of the most well known of the seven pacific salmon species. It is historically the most sought after and highly valued species due to its high nutritional oil content, superior flavour, and its firm red flesh. This elevated quality is thought to be a result of their diet, which consists mainly of krill.
